IBBC Day 2
Sardar Trading Agencies Member of Sardar Group Participates in IBBC Spring Conference, 9th Iraq Day at The Mansion House, London.
The 2nd day of the conference opened with a welcome address by Mr. Alistair Kett, Deputy Chairman IBBC. This was followed by speeches from Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne, Prime Ministers Trade Envoy for Iraq, His Excellency Dr. Fuad Hussain, Deputy Prime Minister of Iraq, Mr. Jon Wilks CGM, Her Majesty’s Ambassador to Iraq and Mr. Christophe Michels, Managing Director, IBBC.
The event marked the 10th anniversary of the Iraq Britain Business Council and special awards were presented to Baroness Nicholson of Winterbourne and Eng. Rasmi Al Jabri, Deputy Chairman of IBBC as a token of gratitude for their contribution to the organization over the last decade.
The conference was entitled ‘Iraq – Financing a Modern Economy’ and was organized in conjunction with the Central Bank of Iraq and the Iraq Private Banks League. H.E. Dr Fuad Hussein, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance lead a high level delegation of Government officials alongside Dr Mehdi Al Alak, Secretary General of the Council of Ministers, Mr. Abbas Imran Mousa, DG Technical Department, Ministry of Transport, Dr Falah Al-Amiri, Councilor for Oil & Gas supplies to the Iraqi Minister of Oil, officials from the Central Bank of Iraq, a delegation from the Union of Private Banks and the Governors of Erbil and Sulamania and Mr. Sardar Al-Bebany Chairman and CEO of Sardar Group.
During the day, various discussions were held related to Banking Sector and Financing Opportunities, Stock Market and Investment Opportunities, Oils and Gas Sector and Capacity Building in Public and Private Sector. In the course of these discussions, the participants also had an opportunity to interact with UK Export Finance representatives, who gave a better understanding of how they can contribute towards various business initiatives in Iraq.
Day was concluded with remarks from Dr. Mai Yamani from Mosul University.
